Mindset Motivation
Positive thoughts and practices are the
weights that keep us sharp and toned.
Whew! It’s only the beginning of February and God has filled my year with amazing opportunities thus far. I had the pleasure of being invited to speak to the students of Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas. There's just something about an HBCU (Historically Black College/University) that makes me feel right at home when I step on campus. :) When discussing social media, I came to them from a “big sister” aspect by sharing tips on how to build your influence, protect your brand, marketing, do's and don'ts. I was able to share advice about what I’ve learned during my journey so far and about things that I wish I’d known earlier in my journey. Unfortunately, there’s no curriculum for how to become an influencer like there is in school. In school, you know what classes you have to take and what you need to learn in order to earn that degree. So even though I still have a way to go on my influencer journey, I’m always willing to turn around and reach out a hand to those that come after me. We had great conversation. I saw pens writing and heads nodding which made me happy and, of course we interacted with some group activities, prize giveaways, and shared a lot of laughter! My takeaway: 1) I’m proud of myself for being confident in my journey and where I am as an influencer. That negative Nancy tried her best to creep in by making me think I wasn’t a “big enough” influencer to give advice because my followers aren’t 50k and above…YET:) But I kindly MUTED her and reminded myself that God chose me for this opportunity and hearing from influencers at various levels is a great thing. Advice: “Comparison is the thief of joy.” - Never compare yourself 2) Knowing that If God brought me to it, He’ll see me through it.” That was literally the sermon I listened to and live streamed from my church right before I started my travel. SO.ON.TIME. Advice: What God had for you is for YOU! He makes no mistakes. To the JCC students:
Thank you for showing up and being open and receptive to the tips I’ve learned through my journey of being an influencer. Y'all had me laughing when evaluating your social media pages lol! Everyone in that room has an individual gift that the world is eager to see and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of you. To my prophyte, Tessie, thank you for inviting me and trusting me to speak to your students. I’m grateful. Hmmmmmmm. I feel a College Tour in my near future. Who’s next! Xoxo, Abnormally AB

Beautiful, Abigail! I hope you enjoyed it, and it looks like the students appreciated your advice. We are all influences in one way or another!
